Leaders, Revolutionists, Creative, Caring, Empathetic, Lovable and so much more. Words fall short in describing women. Yet, for centuries, women have had to struggle for their airing their voice, exercising their rights and standing for their collective identity. Tales narrating the struggles & victories of women all around the globe have left an impact. These victories are commemorated every year, The starting point of this journey dates back to the early 1900s.

Women’s oppression and inequality were spurring women to become more vocal and active in campaigning for change. Then in 1908, 15,000 women marched through New York City demanding shorter hours, better pay and voting rights. In accordance with a declaration by the Socialist Party of America, the first National Woman’s Day (NWD) was observed across the United States on 28 February.

In 1910 a second International Conference of Working Women was held in Copenhagen. In the succeeding years, the screams & reach of this movement spread far and wide, and eventually across the entire globe. Women in Austria, Denmark, Germany and Switzerland began attending rallies organised under this banner. More than one million women and men attended IWD rallies campaigning for women’s rights to work, vote, be trained, to hold public office and end discrimination. Years of an unending struggle for women reached its epitome when International Women’s Day was celebrated for the first time by the United Nations in 1975

Cut to 2019, International Women’s day has evolved into a larger movement. The backdrop of this day has evolved from commemorating women’s struggles to celebrating their achievements and applauding their unimaginable feats. And Healthie is at the forefront of this celebration. A torchbearer in applauding the efforts of exemplary women, whose inspiring tales will fill your hearts with pride & joy.
