Getting Ready For The Winter Bod

The dreadful monsoon has ended, In India, Winters don’t follow the Autumn. It’s the Diwali season that does, but so do the icky sticky sweets and snacks. The point of getting a summer bod isn’t to lose it all to the months of October and November, but to maintain it through the Winters, onto the next year. It’s time for the well-lit season and we’re here to guide your gut through it.

Craven Is The Craver

Brain chemicals such as Dopamine, Endorphins, Serotonin and GAMA are involved in controlling your cravings, and it’s imperative to control these. Especially when you have the Diwali goodies moving along like a conveyor belt in front of your eyes.

The first step is to listen to the bad news. Here are some basic food item that you need to avoid in this season:

  • Juices laden with cups of sugar
  • Prepackaged sweets and desserts
  • Having ‘ek cup chai’ or soda with every guest that visits.

Instead, indulge in items having ingredients prepared with organic honey, stevia, and such calorie-friendly sweeteners. Have a lemonade or green tea. Of course the surge of dry fruits such as almonds, cashews, raisins and walnuts is welcomed with well requited love. Fruits such as Kiwi, Bananas, Grapes, and Dates also make good festive snacks.

You can also enjoy dark chocolates, which come with a wide spectrum of cocoa content – often associated with a healthy heart and reduction in high blood pressure. The higher the cocoa content, the bitter (and better). Choose the ones having low fat and sugar content, and you’re all set.

You’ll see that eating such deliciously healthy stuff will not only prevent you from eating unhealthy junk, but keep you fuller, also provide you a rich source of all the six nutrients (Proteins, Vitamins, Minerals, Carbohydrates, Fats and Water). Seriously, our nature is the best source of providing food that’ll help us survive the long winter night.
